Logan Village State School is a school level code 5 with approximately 575 students in prep to year 6.
Students enrolled at Logan Village State School come mainly from the surrounding Logan Village, Buccan and Chambers Flat areas. Most students come to school by private transport, around 25% by bus and a few walk.
The school is set on 5.4 hectares, the development and maintenance of which is catered for by a full time Schools Officer Grounds and Facilities. Staff, students and parents take pride int he development and maintenance of the school environment.
Logan Village State School's prep - year 6 curriculum is defined in its Curriculum Framework, which encompasses the Australian Curriculum (ACARA). It includes a teaching/learning program in the eight Key Learning Areas, namely, English, Mathematics, Humanities, and Social Sciences (HASS), The Arts (Music, Media, Visual Arts, Dance, Drama), Technology, Health and Physical Education and Languages other than English (LOTE).
Teachers are supported by specialists in the areas of Music, Physical Education, and LOTE.
The support teachers assist the class teacher in building a profile of students with learning difficulties and learning disabilities and will assist to develop programs to cater for individual needs.
A Guidance Officer attends the school 9 days a fortnight supporting students through counselling and assessments.
Special Education Program staff are allocated to the school according to the number of students with an Education Adjustment Profile thus requiring support to achieve to their full potential in core learning areas.
Parent programs are conducted to inform parents of current teaching and learning program content so that they can be involved in their child's education. A volunteer induction session is conducted each Term. Other programs are offered to train volunteers to assist with the needs of students in the school. Parental involvement is highly valued, encouraged and essential to provide the much needed support for our students.
Decision making in the school is collaborative and consultative as the Principal actively seeks input from the various forums representing the stakeholders: Parents (P&C and Volunteers); Students and staff.
